CLIMATE RECOVERY — WHERE DO WE START?

Notes from the talk held on January 10, 2019

CLIMATE CHANGE
The science is clear. The future is not.
What can we do?

SPEAKERS & TOPICS
Climate Science
Amaya Davis, PhD
NASA, Solar System Ambassador, and Professor of Aviation and Aerospace
Picture
NASA conducts breakthrough research on climate science, enhancing the ability of the international scientific community to advance Earth science using space-based observations. The agency's research encompasses solar activity, sea level rise, the temperature of the atmosphere and the oceans, the state of the ozone layer, air pollution, and changes in sea ice and land ice. In her talk, Dr. Davis presented some of this robust scientific data and demonstrated how it helps us understand climate change and evaluate the impact of efforts to combat it. It also covered creative solutions scientists are pursuing to reduce the effects of climate change.

We are already feeling the effects of climate change, and urgent measures are needed to cut the risk of those effects becoming catastrophic. Each one of us can play a role in reducing human-generated carbon emissions. Ms. Tagher and Ms. Perianes discussed many small, powerful steps we can take to reduce our individual and collective carbon footprint. The way we organize our homes, the transportation options we choose, the foods we eat, even the conversations we have with friends can all make significant contributions to climate recovery.
